Hone your Good Luck Strategy
Do you feel your personal life and business results suffer from a lack of good luck?
Are you like most people, grinding hard 8 hours a day with not many returns? If so, you’re not the only one. Chances are you might not be taking care of you, and promoting you. Because luck is about our active interaction with our world. And this is where personal marketing comes in.
In our “rich get richer, poor get poorer” culture, more people are feeling unlucky.
They’re not receiving the success, positive feedback, acknowledgement, or income they really should be enjoying. Negativity seeps in and poisons points of view. Something gets out of sync in our lives. Since no one is going to help you capture good luck, it’s vital to understand something about this thing you don’t yet have, but will have, and enact a strategy to improve your good fortune.
Start studying it via Google or Bing. With insights, new skills and outlook you might build your paved path to good fortune.
Each person is unique and what is tripping you up, isn’t what’s holding others back. In this post, we explore a few reasons for bad luck, but after you’ve developed a broad awareness, you’ll likely discover the one or two key reasons why you’re unlucky. And those will spawn from your own self-image, misperceptions of opportunity, lack of confidence, and poor mental habits. However, if you focus on the good luck goal, you’ll most likely begin beating a path to it. Where the mind goes, energy flows.
Begin thinking of yourself as lucky, and others might feel you’re worthy connecting with an helping. Expand and do good things.
Are You Causing Your Own Bad Luck?
People who are unlucky are often stuck with untrue beliefs about themselves and their capacities, their real opportunities, responsibility to others and themselves. We are our own worst enemies. Sure, we all have a fear of failure and low self-esteem at times. But we don’t deserve bad luck.
A better point of view is that good luck is part of a smart and hard-working plan to succeed. Good luck is part of that. We create our luck.
If we are limited and discriminated against by an unfair system that diminishes us and our opportunities, our new good luck plan should help us overcome those barriers. In our rich get richer and poor get poorer culture, it seems like opportunity and good life are far away and impossible. Which is why we need to reject losing culture. It’s not doing you any favors and you need to ignore it.
If your business isn’t going well and you’re not living the good life, then you’re not in your lucky place. You need to transition/move to your lucky place. It’s the place where you’re the star, the center, and have all the power to make your success happen.
How do you find your lucky place? It’s all about positioning, location, people and communication. Identify the people you need to connect with to improve your life. Use Facebook, Linkedin, or visit their websites. Establish a brand image you need to communicate so they want to include you. Show good intent, create value for others, and show you’re in the Zeitgeist they want to be in. Draw them into the club. Help them be lucky.
Learning Good Luck Strategy
Good luck strategy isn’t taught in schools and parents don’t teach their kids enough about it. Although Chinese culture seems to feel it is important. Good luck though isn’t a parlor game or a good luck charm. It’s active and very likely your most important life skill. Because you can be super educated, skilled, and productive and still be very unlucky. Bad luck is when you let the system decide where you are positioned and what results you get.
Are you yourself living the travel experiences you’ve dreamt of? Are you in a job that is meaningful to you? Do you live in the neighborhood and home you feel comfortable with? Do you have the friends, skills and job you need to succeed? Bad luck usually means you don’t have those things — so life is not forwarding the gifts you need to succeed.
Working Hard Could Be Deadly and Devastating
Of course, our culture extols the virtues of free will and that hard work creates your luck. You’re free to work your guts out to make someone else rich. And hundreds of millions of people work themselves to an early death with little to show for their efforts.
Consider the lucky ones.
Who paved the path for them? How did they get so fortunate? What is their world of connections, resources, daily habits, thinking style, and why are they so audacious to capture all of that? They’re all driven by something at the gut level that impels them emotionally and makes them focus on their vision of how things need to be. It often comes from love of others, but more about a love of themselves and making sure they’re at the center of a lucky world.
Do you love yourself? Do you even like yourself? I have to ask, because that’s at the root of it.
Gut Level Purpose and Drive
You already know about good luck and positioning and promoting yourself, but you don’t feel compelled at a gut level to act. Because if you did, you’d find every way to make it happen. The good thing is that you can think about it, understand your need, build a strategy, and then execute it every day. Once you tie it to the key things you need and want out of life, it builds your intent to where you feel this powerful, gut-level emotion to commit to it.
Energy flows where the mind goes. So having a focused strategy gives your lucky project its drive and momentum. Nothing will happen until you believe in your spirit and feel it on a gut level where you can’t be still.
Of course, you’ve likely had this feeling before and never really thought about it. It’s that ah ha moment when you realize its possible. Suddenly, all the barriers that held you back dissipate and your future opens up wide. It’s time to do that again!
Creating the Vision: Creating Good Luck Through Strategy
We can recognize these truths, and then get to work to create situations, people and assets that might favor us and increase our chances of good fortune. We can start looking for love in all the right places, researching and finding the right business to be in, or move to where the good life is happening and prosperity is strong. Then our luck usually changes. It really is about our positioning.
If fate puts us in a bad luck place, we need to move away to new circumstances where we can be blessed with greater exposure to good fortune that enhances our direction, strengths and potential. We’re repositioning our life to be closer to good luck and further away from bad luck.
“Luck is what happens when preparation meets opportunity.“
Good Luck Development Strategies
Success needs a plan, unless you expect to be lucky and leave it to fate. Personally, I don’t think fate works well for the majority of people, who continue to lead lives of quiet despair and a lack of resources to live well. And being lucky is all about strategically and tactically increasing involvement to raise the odds of being fortunate.
Try these 11 key actions that can re-position you where the sun shines and food grows bountiful:
- Expand Your Personal and Professional Network
- Why it works: People control the economy, jobs, and wealth. Luck often comes through these people connected to opportunities, wealth, and people compatible to you. This means visibility on social media, introductions, recommendations, or chance encounters can help connect the dots on your happiness trail.
- How to do it: Attend meetings and events, join clubs, connect on LinkedIn, and engage in meaningful conversations with people who are where you want to be. Find the right people – a tribe or group of related people who can support your personal quest and who are themselves lucky. You want to spend more time in the zone of good luck and the people who are the gatekeepers.
- Communicate Who You Are and What You Want
- Why Communicating and Promoting Works: the people you hope to build connections with and influence need to know what you bring, trust you, and whether you’re a fit in their sphere. There’s a lot to communicate so make sure you reach people with the right messages, and have your value proposition clearly stated.
- How to do it: Understand your new vision of good luck positioning. Build your envisioned UVP every day and understand what is valuable about you to the crowd/market you want to associate with, and the opportunities present. Have a personal and professional marketing strategy expressed via social media and a blog/vlog, and promote yourself strongly to the right people.
- Be Open to New Experiences
- Why it works: Luck favors those who step outside their comfort zones, exposing themselves to unforeseen opportunities and relationships. Despite your lack of knowledge, experience, and resources in their field of interest, you can position yourself to gain these assets and re-position their view of your value to them.
- How to do it: Travel, try new hobbies, take an educational course, connect on social media, apply for jobs, inquire with companies, and take on projects outside your expertise, or explore new career paths in a new city.
- Stay Curious and Keep Learning
- Why it works: The more knowledge and skills you acquire, the better you can recognize and act on opportunities. People open to you because you show relevance, significance and sympatico with them and their world.
- How to do it: Read widely, take courses, ask questions, absorb their knowledge and seek to understand trends and ideas and their points of view and evaluation of skills/people. All roads lead to good luck and there’s always a path open to your final destination.
- Practice Positive Risk-Taking
- Why it works: Calculated risks often lead to opportunities that others miss. Reduce your fear of failure and time waste by choosing activities/objectives with the highest potential for creating value to you. As you succeed, you move forward faster and risks seem smaller and smaller. View risk as a creative path that opens up awareness.
- How to do it: Evaluate potential rewards and consequences, then take action where the upside outweighs the downside. Put luck and the odds on your side.
- Cultivate Resilience
- Why it works: Good luck doesn’t just happen. It takes time to reposition. Resilience allows you to recover from setbacks and remain ready for new opportunities. It increases confidence and forward motion.
- How to do it: Develop habits of mindfulness, practice gratitude, and view failures as learning experiences rather than final outcomes.

- Why it works: Many people miss lucky breaks because they fail to notice them. Be an opportunist but one who seeks benefits for all. Use your social intelligence because you know how people are at the center of everything, from finding that great rental apartment to a new business project where people will be needed. Being attuned to good luck opportunities might help you see the path to your goal more clearly.
- How to do it: Pay attention to subtle conversation cues, listen carefully ask good questions, note all statements, read between the lines, and reflect on situations to uncover hidden possibilities.
- Show Up Consistently
- Why it works: Luck increases with exposure—being present increases the chances of being in the right place at the right time. Be where the action more even if it’s in a place you don’t particularly like, because it’s a temporary place connected to your real destination.
- How to do it: Attend events, follow up on connections, take that temporary job, and remain persistent even when results aren’t immediate.
Be the Lucky Person You Want to Be
The wisest advice might be: Be the lucky person you want to be. By envisioning and being the end product, everything you think, feel and do aligns with that outcome.
You might not be able to see your destination/place right now, and instead, it’s about building the assets, time, energy along with your intent to linger at that unknown good luck space. You can’t fake it. You need to belong in that place and show the people there you’re part of the inner circle. As you get closer, it comes into better focus where you can position in the hot spot.
If there are locked doors at your lucky place, your preparation will open them. You might realize now that luck may be controlled by other people. Grow friends, believers, followers and other “tribe members” to connect with the exact people who will be the key people in your new, improved life.
Once you’re sure you’re on the path to great luck and your focus is on it, you’ll move forward faster and get better results. Energy flows where the mind goes.
