Smack dab in the middle of Canada is Toronto, Ontario, on the shore of Lake Ontario, in the area called the Golden Horseshoe. In Toronto, you’ll be thrilled with a glass elevator ride up to the top of the CN Tower for impressive views all around. Book a cruise of the Toronto harbor, islands and waterfront, catch a major league baseball game at Roger’s Centre (SkyDome) and visit the downtown Aquarium. Whatever your tastes, you’ll find many museums, restaurants, and marketplaces.  With a taste of Toronto enjoyed, you can plan a trip to north of the city for a day at the beach at the world’s longest freshwater beach – Wasaga Beach. It’s safe for kids and offers 16 miles of sand and waves that your kids will never forget. And about 100 miles north of Toronto is the Muskoka cottage region. You might rent a cottage by a lake for campfires, fishing and canoeing.

On the east coast, in Newfoundland, you’ll meet Canada’s most likable and down to earth citizens. The major city of St Johns is a seaside community giving your family a taste of the Canadian eastern Maritime life (a little different than Maine). Against a backdrop of the St Johns Harbor and surrounding hills, you’ll wander through national historic sites, see the Titanic Ship Museum and stone towers built centuries ago. Slow down and enjoy a walking tour of The Battery a historic neighborhood with colorful houses clinging to the cliffs, offering scenic views and a glimpse into Newfoundland’s past, and Jellybean Row, iconic colorful houses which line the steep hillsides and narrow streets of the downtown. Enjoy the new Titanic and Iceberg Exhibit and perhaps take a bus tour of St Johns that includes the nearby Cape Spear Lighthouse, the most eastern point in North America. And while on the topic of unique experiences, Newfoundland’s sumptuous seafood cuisine is a must do from clams to lobster and cod dishes.

The Province of Quebec is special to many Americans given the use of French language and the unique culture. While not France, Quebec offers an imaginative and creative approach to living. A unique trip will include to visit the art galleries, museums, and its exceptional restaurants where you can sample French-inspired cuisine.  The city of Quebec is notable with its centuries old neighborhoods giving a glimpse back into Canada’s pioneering past. Enjoy the impressive architecture of Fairmont Le Chateau Frontenac and the Citadelle of Quebec. You’ll find the Quebec City boat cruise tours amazing passing the epic Montmorency Falls, whales, and Sainte-Anne-de-Beaupré Sanctuary.

Calgary and the Alberta Rocky Mountains are an exceptional contrast in geography and culture. Landing in the Calgary airport you’ll be immediately immersed in the Western Canadian culture. In July, the Calgary Stampede welcomes a million+ visitors. It is North America’s top rodeo where cowboys, cowgirls, horses and bulls compete for big prizes. Walk Calgary’s +15 walkways that connect many of the buildings in downtown Calgary and walk the paved trail downtown along the Bow River. If you’re enjoying a week’s stay, you might have time for a bike ride, play some golf, and try plenty of Western Canada’s tasty food. And a trip to Calgary often comes with a drive to Banff. You can take bus tours, and enjoy the incredible beauty of Banff National Park, only 90 miles to the west, it’s the Yosemite Park and Yellowstone Park of Western Canada. Go vertical in the Rocky Mountains with a ride on the Banff Sulphur mountain gondola to enjoy incredible views of the Bow Valley from 8000 altitude.

Many tourists visit Canada’s most famous castle, the Banff Springs Hotel. You might enjoy playing golf on its impressive 19-hole course. Banff’s quaint townsite, a true mountain town has all you could want from wonderful walks to unbelievably good restaurants, some offering front row seats to Banff Avenue. Not fa away is the incredible beauty of Moraine Lake and Lake Louise. Johnston’s Canyon and a drive along Bow Valley Parkway make for a very fulfilling adventure.  For upscale luxury travelers and couples, the Rocky Mountaineer Train Trip is worth a look. You can travel from Vancouver to Calgary or vice versa passing through mountain ranges, a scene so beautiful it’s a challenge to describe in words.

On Canada’s Western Coast is Canada’s favorite place to live and vacation. Vancouver, BC is often regarded as the most beautiful city in the world, with its seaside location surrounded by a stunning mountain backdrop.
