Can you ever be creative enough? Today, life is all about making creative productive contributions, and your income is directly related to your ability to visualize and achieve novel, exciting new outcomes or products.
Everyone has tremendous creative potential, but they can’t release enough of it. We need some warm ups, exercises, and fun practice sessions so we can get at the creative imagination underneath. Open up the top, clear the debris out of the way, and feel like you’re floating down a river.
Creativity is directly related to your personality. Highly creative people are different. They venture outside of their comfort zone, make mistakes, do things only because they make them feel good and happy, and give themselves wide latitude in their thinking. And some have great creative skills honed through years of practice.
If you’re trying to improve your creative skills, you’re wise. It really is one of the keys to success. The more latitude and mobility you have, the better positioned you can be to achieve the best results — big success.

Creativity techniques are methods that encourage creative actions, whether in the arts or sciences. They focus on a variety of aspects of creativity, including techniques for idea generation and divergent thinking, methods of re-framing problems, changes in the affective environment and so on. They can be used as part of problem solving, artistic expression, or therapy.
Like working out at the gym, you only get better by practicing. Here are 8 practical ways to open up your mind. Relax and don’t try too hard because you’ll reach the end of your comfort zone too fast, and then your “censorship” voice will kick in and shut you down. That’s when you walk away dejected.
The whole point of these techniques is to disable your left brained processes, and your critical faculty so they can’t trip you up.
On a blank piece of paper, make big loopy strokes with a pen or pencil. Going from left to right across, make a series of l’s or e’s and make them wide. Start from the right side and go to the left. Your handwriting is a direct 2 way channel from your brain. Changing your handwriting changes your personality and thinking style.
Roll your eyes slowly round and round in a circle from right to left, then from left to right. Move your eyes more often. Uncreative people stare straight ahead all day long and that’s not good for your eyes.
Go for long walks. Walk far enough that your mind gets exhausted. Now start thinking about doing the things that you’re too inhibited to do. Are you singing, humming a song, on a vacation, out for a night on the town. Good, keep going.
Draw pictures. Draw the outline of shapes of people, animals, cars, trees, houses, and furniture. Do not draw details. Get a paint brush and paint your very favourite colours in a splashy collage on the paper. No details, just wide strokes of colour. Make them round, change speeds. Then try a simple painting like the one above.
Listen to new types of music — not your usual favorites. Play it so loud, your self-limiting thoughts get drowned out. Get totally into the music, empty your mind, and let your feelings flow.
Do a new sport. Doesn’t matter what it is. Just to take you out of your usual boring routine and force you to do new physical moves.
Write a story with you as the star and do all the things you want to do. Then delete it.
Do something you’ve been too afraid to do or you’ve been avoiding, or help someone who needs help. Could be an old man down the street or your aging aunt in another town. Just get it done.
There are plenty of other things you can do including surrounding yourself with creative people, change the decor in your office, getting a massage, taking trips, and visiting pinterest and look at pictures.
